How to adjust ID verification

2 min read

ID verification through an onboarding request on the Meo platform can include ID verification. For verifying ID, we generally have these options:

  • ID verification via national electronic ID verification, such as MitID in Denmark
  • Collection and verification of national ID cards, passports and driver’s licenses

The national electronic ID verification systems are pretty straightforward, and rely on the availability of an electronic national ID of the different countries. We currently support Danish MitID, while we are looking at other countries.

The primary way to verify a person’s identity for individuals not based in Denmark, is via collection and verification of national ID cards, passports and driver’s licenses.

For these, we have a partnership with Thales where we offer a real-time digital analysis and verification of the ID document. If the client could not complete the verification, then the onboarding process would block the client and require a better document.

There are some variations of the process that we can set up for you. These include:

  • Always require ID verification - this method always requires the client to provide a document that can be digitally verified.
  • Never block the client - this method will attempt a digital ID verification, but even if the verification fails, then the client can continue. This is an easier process for the client, but it will allow the client to provide data in any quality and you should take extra care when doing the manual ID verification
  • Case-by-case verification - you can also choose to decide on the ID verification requirements on a case-by-case basis. This way, you can e.g. start with high requirements and if the client cannot adhere to those, then you can lower the requirements. This provides the highest amount of flexibility.

We always recommend doing a visual verification of the ID documents as well, as the digital verification of ID documents is an assistance for the manual verification process.
